Pop princess Britney Spears has been acting more like a normal person lately. On monday I saw her live in concert (or playback in concert) in Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. It was a freak show off corse, but the show was actually pretty good. Even though not one single line that she sang was live. The show felt more like a strip club than a concert, but hey, it's Britney bitch! Anyway, the best thing about the show was this woman without legs on a trampoline, and she was jumping high!

Back in Oslo for a Month

Early in July I traveled back to where the trolls lives. Up north to beautiful Norway. This is my mum and I, not one of the trolls. She was so happy to see me again after my 6 months in New York. It was really nice to see my family again to, actually they are coming with me back to New York for two weeks in August. He's eight years old and he was in the park with his family. He played soccer with his little brother. After a while he wanted me to join them. We must have played for hours cause I was exhausted. Busy month

The beginning of June was also the start on a very busy month. Some friends from Norway decided to come over to visit the apartment 14 on the Upper East Side. Vineet was the first guest, then Annikken and Sandra arrived a week later, and then Lars came. I also launched the web magazine Tversover.no, together with my room mate Andreas. It has been a lot of work but we also got to chillax for some days.

We all decided to hire a car and go for a road trip down south. (Don't ask me where!)

A New King on the Throne?

Elvis died 32 years ago and he was the first huge icon in the music businesses. Now «The King» of our generation Michael Jackson is dead, only 50 years old. The sad news hit us hard and was totally unexpected.

We have lost a genius, an icon. Michael Jackson was our times biggest celebrity. He was a strange man and he lived an extraordinary odd life, but he created music people all over the world loved, and will love for times to come. I think and hope Michael will be remembered for his music, more than all the things in his personal life.

You know something is serious when everyone on facebook and Twitter has their status shouting out the same things. My front page on facebook was full of MJ news, minutes after it hit the media. People were crying, using his lyrics, being in shock and off course many were sad because they had tickets for his upcoming tour later this year.

Many of his artist colleague's are also in tears. He has been an inspiration to multiple generations and almost every artist in the industry looked up to him. Today they are all sharing their feelings with their fans online.

I discussed with a colleague of mine last year:
– «Who would take Michael Jackson's seat, like he did when Elvis died?».

The answer was Justin Timberlake! He might need some years to make people think about him as an icon, but he surely are!

My date with Beyoncé

Finally! Beyoncé is right where she needs to be–on tour! The bonifide superstar makes great hits in the studio but it’s on stage where she shines the brightest. I mean, she is the greatest entertainer of our generation!

So today I was in Madison Square Garden for the first time. It was Beyoncé's kick off show in the US with her new tour «I Am…». What a show it turned out to be.

How can you top a concert with only B? Well add Jay-Z on stage! That was exactly what she did. Only five minutes into the first song he jumped on stage and performed «Crazy in Love» with his wify.

Beyoncé had a female band, eight dancers with body's to die for, a crazy audience and off corse hits from her three solo albums. She also performed the songs that made her famous, the hits from the days in Destiny's Child.

But the Diva did not only play her own music. Sasha Fierce covered Alanis Morissette's classic «You Outta Know» and Sarah McLachlan's «Angels».

After the show I met Beyoncé’s mum Tina Knowles (she looks amazing by the way!) and a couple of the dancers.

So, if you have a chance to see the greatest entertainer of our generation this summer – do it!

The Celebrity At Starbucks and #2

Story #1: I don't know if you recognize the man above. At Starbucks today I saw Hollywood actor Victor Garber. You might have seen him in «Titanic» as the «clock man», or in the TV series «Alias». My celebrity radar is maybe a bit stronger than many others, cause my friends had never seen him before. He was drinking a tall black coffee if you really need the hot gossip!

Story #2: My friends and I went for lunch at B-Bar today. The waitress giggles' when she ask me what I prefer to drink. I thought that was strange, so I tried to find out what it could be. Was it because I answered, good! – perfect!, on the question «how are you» when we came? It could be, but it was strange to still giggle about that. When she came back with the food she asked me - Are you Joel? – No, I said. I took of my sunglasses and presented myself. She asked my friends, cause she still didn't believe me, – Is he Joel? When they also said no, she grabbed my arm and lifted my right t-shirt sleeve. She got so embarrassed, cause she was expecting a tattoo or something. Her face was flashing red and she ran away. The last time she came over, she said that she really did think I was Joel, a friend of her. I left her a card when we got the check. Thank you, love Joel :) She must be really confused.

Yesterday our friend Vineet came to visit us for some days. This morning we all took the trip to the beach at Coney Island. We had a grate day with lot's of sun, tivoli and hot dogs. Oh and I, well I got sunburned – again! In the evening we went to BBQ at the rooftop at the Norwegian seamen's church. The night ended at home with a scream! My First Yankees Game

My friend Oren got us some very cheap tickets to the Yankees game today. It was Yankees against the Baltimore Orioles at Yankees new arena in the Bronx. Since this was my first time ever experience with baseball, I had to learn the game from scratch. Natalya and Oren tried their best to teach Andreas and myself how to play and understand the game. I think I need to sit down with a «Baseball for Dummies» book or something, cause so far all I get is that home runs is a very good thing. I will come back to see more games for sure, maybe with the rules implanted in my brain next time? I really enjoyed sitting at the back row with nachos, hot dogs and good friends. And the game off course! The Yankees won 9-1 and I got the big finger I always wanted!

Once a skeptic, always a skeptic! Says who?

I have to admit that this years Eurovision song contest was pretty darn cool. Not only did Norway and Alexander Rybak's Fairytale take home run with 387 points (in your face Europe) but I also got to celebrate the sweet victory with the former winner from 1985, Hanne Krogh from the super duo Bobbysocks. We watched the show at Hibernia with a bunch of other Europeans and Norwegians. I have never felt such patriotism (it might been the beers), but when the show was over and they showed Hanne Krogh's hit from 85 «Let it Swing» on the big screen, the fever was totally on. She was dancing on the tables singing her song with a full bar crowd totally exited about her performance. I can't wait to show you the video!

The Miami Surprise

The past week has been the most chillaxed in a long time. My friends from Norway and my room mate Andreas went for the Orange state, the wonderful Florida with Key West and Miami. It's paradise! The first day was all about snorkeling from a boat on the open ocean with free beers and «I'm Yours» on the speakers.

It's not a good idea to fell asleep on the beach, in that case you have to pay a painful price. I got sunburned like I never been burned in my life, and that was the first day! I had to stay under an umbrella the next five days. Thank god for sun lotion!

My other room mate Natalya and our friend Samantha surprised us in the water at Miami Beach. They came out of now where! I knew Natalya was coming cause we planed it some weeks ago but Samantha! Wow, everyone is fooling everyone this days. The rest of the bunch got really surprised by both of them. I wish I had pictures of them faces when we saw their faces in the water. I love a good surprise and a chocked face.

Nobody Puts the Birthday Baby in the Corner

April 29th was my 25th birthday and my first birthday on this side of the planet. My room mates and the visitors waked me up with cupcakes and gifts. I got so many grate things! I must say that my friends are creative! «Lassarazzi Kit» with a brand new flash lamp, a photo book, lot's of Norwegian chocolate, a man purse from Top Shop (I'm starting a trend), cloths and money from my family and cards from everyone I thought had forgotten all about me. It turned out to be an amazing day with a hectic schedule. We started with breakfast and beers at home. Then we got down to see my friend Linda's graduate exhibition at «Parsons - The New School for Design». She's amazing! After the exhibition we grabbed a taxi to «B Bar and Grill» for a surprise dinner with almost everyone I knew in New York City - that was really nice and not expected at all! Then we headed out for a couple of drinks in City night.

Lomography Fun!

A couple of weeks ago we discovered a new cool store on 41 W 8th St. The Lomography flag ship store in New York! Do you know lomography? Well, you know back in the days when we used analogue film? You don't? Well it's film instead of a memory card. Anyway, the store chartered a tourist bus for a day and gave everyone on the bus an analogue camera. We drove around Manhattan for about three hours, laughing of surprised naked people and real tourists with digital cameras, so early 2009! It's kinda hard to take pictures without seeing them on a screen before you push the button. It was was fun to be old fashioned again.

Ok, so waiting for the pictures to get ready was exiting and we had to wait for three days. I can't say that the pictures turned out like I planed them to, but practice makes you a perfect hero, right? You should check out the Lomography store and go bananas with the camera like it was 1979.

This was the second movie set I ran into today. The movie is called «Twelve» and Chase Crawford from «Gossip Girl», Keifer Sutherland from «24» and raper 50 cent is in the leading rolls. Check out my video from the set above!

The movie plot: A young drug dealer watches as his high-rolling life is dismantled in the wake of his cousin's murder, which sees his best friend arrested for the crime.

The movie will hit the big screen in 2010.

On my way for lunch today I walked right on the set of «Ugly Betty». They were filming downtown and I ended up being a movie extra, eating sushi on a bench in the park. I got some pictures from the set to. The first picture was America in character with her braces. In two seconds just like that they were gone. A perfect Hollywood smile lightened up the street. What is the trick? Millions of teenagers around the world wants to know!

Update On My New Superstar Neighbour

As I told you guys some weeks ago Madonna is leaving Upper West to be my neighbour at the Upper East Side. The $40 million contract is signed and her new address is East 81th Street. The new Georgian-style townhouse is located near the Lexington Ave subway. The mansion has over 20 rooms! It has 13 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and even a wine cellar with a grotto. Not to mention a 3,000 square-foot garden, two-car garage, nine fireplaces, and an elevator. I can't wait for the housewarming party!

Bar With a View

If you ever want a bar with a view this is the place. Last night my friend's and I grabbed a taxi for a drink at 230 Fifth. The bar has New York's largest outdoor Rooftop Garden, enclosed Penthouse Lounge's and my kind of music. The drinks are expensive but there is no cover charge. But leave your hat at home, the guards don't like them!

Boring Broadway

Our visitors really wanted to see a Broadway show when they were here, so we went down to the ticket office at Times Square for some discount tickets. There was a play called «The Fantasticks», the longest playing musical on Broadway, that was only $58. A good price for an old play we where thinking. Well, when we got to the theater we expected a big entrance with a bar and so on but no. We had to climb up the stairs to the fourth floor in an old building. The lobby was small and Snapple sponsored the tiny bar in the corner, Snapple! The stage was even smaller and the play was the most boring thing I ever saw. I felt asleep after 10 minutes and I was not the only one! Stay away!
I guess you get what you pay for?

New York City Visitors

The past day’s has been a lot of fun. On Wednesday some friends from Norway arrived The City, just to stay a couple of days. And the schedule was hectic. The first thing we did was the rowboats in Central Park. Then we had to run through Wall Street to take the free IKEA boat to Brooklyn, so that we could take a look at the beautiful Manhattan skyline. There is a place not far from IKEA called «Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pie», a hidden bakery with it's own beach and the best Key Lime Pie I ever tasted. Of course we had to take our visitors there. Then we took the bus to Dumbo under the Brooklyn Bridge, an area with small design shops, cool café's and restaurants. In the sunset on our way back to Manhattan we walked across the Bridge. Finally back home we decided to take the subway to Greenwich Village for some live Jazz and games at «Fat Cat». And this was just the first day…

I was at the grand opening of the brand new Top Shop (Man) Store at Broadway and Broome today, and so was super duper model Kate Moss. People had been waiting since six o'clock in the morning to be first in line, and yes there were a lot of people all around the block! Since I was there as a journalist I got first in line, lucky me. Moss did the ribbon cutting with Top Shop owner Sir Phillip Green exactly 11am in a green dress and a black leather jacket from her new collection (get the look). I really never liked her, but she looked stunning, I must say (so now I like her). I also got to be one of the first costumers to take a look at the new store (so little money so much to love inside) Thank God for free gift cards, free coffee, free muffin and free re-usable bags.

Gossip news 1: Kate Moss looked pregnant at some of the photos!
Gossip news 2: One of the employes showed me some of the items that pop star Jennifer Lopez bought at the closed event for the money people yesterday. It was mostly stuff for her husband, some shoes, a vest and a jacket.

Gossip is really exciting, right!

Some weeks ago I sent a letter to The White House in Washington D.C. where I asked for an interview with president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle for an Norwegian newspaper. I never in a million years thought they would answer.

I received an e-mail from the press contact at The White House early this morning.

And the answer was YES!

Yes we can man!

Why the hell do I wanna go Twitter?

Some days ago I was invited to an event in the Time Warner building at Colubus Circle. «Music Meets Fashion» was the name of the event. A panel of five people from different companies within the fashion and movie industry, discussed the future of, well fashion and media, and what the future looks like online for them.

One of the speakers was Scott Lipps, president of «One Management», the former model agency with supermodels such as Claudia Shiffer, Eva Herzigova and Helena Christensen as their clients. He talked about why social networks like MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and so on are deadly important to reach the audience in 2009. And he was not the only one!

If I could have a dollar for each time someone in the panel said «Twitter» during the one and a half hour session, I would have enough money to by myself a pony. It's like I've been on another planet for a long time. How did the Twitter guys get so huge? And where was I (oh yeah, on the planet). What is the point with this program? Letting everyone know what you're doing all the time, every minute of the day? I thought we had Facebook for that?

I hope I'll keep myself away from the devil that is Twitter. But don't worry! Facebook is still my friend.

Some real estate Beckham craziness

Last month I paid The Beckham's Beverly Hills mansion a visit. (Well, actually all I really got to see was David Beckham's car and a closed gate. I was also asked to leave the private property by a security guard on the speaker). I guess there will be other opportunities to sneak in. Well actually no if you trust the newest rumors. The most recent real estate rumors swirling around the internets is that David and Vicki Beckham are indeed packing up their tea sets and moving to Milan.

The rumors are also telling that Tom Cruise and his wife Katie want to buy The Beckham's house. It's reported that the Cruise couple want to buy the Beckham's 6 bedroom and 9 bathroom house and use it as a guesthouse! The article quoted someone as saying, «They would use the place for visitors, but they don't want to spend much more than $15 million.»

It makes sense that David and the Spice Girl want to sell their house and maybe those crazy Cruise's do want to buy a fancy guesthouse near their own ritzy residence. However, I’ll bet my best hat that the Cruise's are not buying the Beckham's Beverly Hills home.

Sarah Jessica Parker making movies again

A friend of mine at Upper East made me aware of a big movie set next to his apartment on 89th street tonight. Andreas and I went out for a late night stroll to look it up. The movie they were filming was «Did You Hear About the Morgans?», a new romantic comedy with Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant in the leading rolls. They were filming inside Roma Pizza on 3rd ave. The movie is about an estranged couple who witness a murder and are relocated to small-town Wyoming as part of a witness-protection program.

Romantic comedy? Murder and witness-protection? WTF!

Sarah Jessica is also in for a «Sex and the City» movie sequel later this year. Apparently good times for the NYC based actress.

Stalking Celebs at the Museum

For some strange reason there always seems to be celebs everywhere I go. Today Celine from inewyork.no and I were at the New Museum in SoHo, just trying to be cultural. Actress Claire Danes and her movie star boyfriend Hugh Dancy, did also enjoy their friday at the museum - her parents was there to. The engaged Hollywood couple looked very happy watching «conversations about Iraq» and a 35 mm porn movie for 15 minutes. They kissed and and hold hands on their way out. They even bought flowers at the store on the other side of the street.

The Central Park Monster

After sitting in front of my Mac for thirteen hours, I was eager for some fresh air. What could be better than a nice afternoon walk in Central Park? The Park was as usual full of joggers and people exercising (that made me really depressed), so I decided to walk down for a stroll at fifth avenue. Almost crashing with a bunch of bicycles I heard a sound above me. High up in a tree I saw two eyes glowing in the dark. Just a cat probably? Oh no. This thing was hugh. It was eating something, I guess it was the girl jogging in front of me.

Seventh Wonder of the World

Finally! Now I know what God made on the seventh day. He (or she, who knows?) took a plain to New York City, built a house and opened Crumbs Bake Shop. He baked all sorts of fresh yummy cup cakes and gave them out to the people.

Obama is the MAN

Last night I watched «The Tonight Show with Jay Leno» as Obama became the first president in office to be on the talk show. That just makes him the coolest President ever! Obama voiced some frustration of his life inside the presidential bubble. He also talked about his unfulfilled «campaign promise» on the family dog, pledged to work to recover for taxpayers the bonuses paid to AIG employees and offered his pick to win the NCAA basketball tournament.

He mixed serious policy discussion with fun details about his life as a leader.

House Warming Party at UES

Last saturday we invited everyone we knew at the East Coast for a big house warming party in our new apartment at Upper East Side in New York. The apartment is not hugh, but it's just big enough for around thirty people. Nothing got broken (believe it or not), but I do think the neighbor downstairs was praying do lose her ears (she was invited to). American drinking games are loud, noisy and very physical.

My norwegian friends Marius and Carolina got to spend a few hours in The City before they where of to South America. My room mates and I, took them to Candela, a restaurant in East Village for a few beers and some great pasta. Chatting with Naomi Campbell at MoMA

If you ever got a few hours free in NYC, you should visit the Museum of Modern Art. I did the other day and really loved it. The building is very Scandinavian, very clean. You can see Andy Warhol's POP-art (my favorite), Picasso's cubic paintings, and lot's of more. You can even meet interesting people.

Discovering the building and all the art I saw this woman dancing around like a ballerina. I'll guess she was in her 30's and another woman was filming here. I thought she was cool so I had to film her myself. When she was done I felt that I had to say something to them, so I walked up and presented myself. The «Dancing Queen» was an artist from New York City and the other woman was Naomi Campbell. Ok, so she was not THE Naomi Campell, but she was an artist from Canada. They were really friendly so we exchanged business cards and agreed to take a coffee sometime.

Just another New York minute!

PS: You have to check out the gift shop, they sell so many cool things, like chopsticks in metal and a lot of expensive design furniture's.

A real estate source tells that the kabbalah-crazed pop queen was «discreetly» looking at properties between Fifth and Park avenues, from just above 60th Street through the 80s some days ago.

Will Madonna be moving out of her Central Park West apartment? The word is that she is, and that shes already signed in on one. The source says, «Madonna personally came to look at one house». We're talking about private, double-width mansions in the vicinity of $30 million to $60 million». A bonus on this townhouse: A private garage, which would cut down on paparazzi interaction.

Topshop soon to hit the New Yorkers

At a press conference in New York, Topshop owner Sir Philip Green has announced that the 30,000 square foot shop will open on april 2nd, after a seven-month delay. Kate Moss, the store's most successful in-house designer (and party animal), will be in attendance. (Don't worry guys, Topman will also be there) I can't wait to check it out. Topshop/man is located at 478 Broadway.

Raolat and the Celebrity

Glen Hansard, (you know) the Academy-Award winning songwriter, actor, and vocalist/guitarist for the Irish rock group The Frames. (I have to admit, I didn't really know who he was). Well, he chilled out on a concert some days ago. Raolat saw him in the audience and got so excited. I had to ask Glen for a picture with her. Raolat was so happy to get a photo with her favorite star. She stopped breathing for a minute or two. I had to watch his film «Once», to see what the fuzz was all about. He sings and play guitar very well, but I don't think he's the best actor. Anyway he got an Oscar!

If you want some one of a kind art you should visit Billy's antiques and props store on 82 E Houston Street. I don't know where they got them, but they sell Subway Signs from all over The City. You've got to bring some money. A small EXIT sign is only 60 bucks, but the coolest and most popular signs, like the one from the Subway on the Yankee Stadium, is $1000 and up!

Today I walked by this much talked about billboards in TriBeCa.

Victoria Beckham has followed husband David Beckham by stripping down to her underwear for designer Giorgio Armani. They were shot by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and will appear on billboards in New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo, as well as glossy magazines.

Victoria once claimed: «I've got so much saggy skin on my stomach. I might fit into jeans but, trust me, I look really awful naked.» This pictures show something else, but hey, we all know the magic of Photoshop!

Play That Funky Music

My friend Nat took us to the Mercury Lounge, on 217 East Houston St. tonight. One of her coworkers plays guitar in the band Bridges and Powerlines, so we got free tickets (we love free stuff) to their concert. They were playing together with Anathallo (a Chicago indie art-pop ensemble) and Samamidon (a singer/banjoist with two other band members).

This was a different music experience for me. Strange, but really cool and funky. You should definitely check them out!

Crazy Americans!

Today I woke up with snow in my face! Literally! I slept with my window open, it was so cold. The Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg sent all of his snowplows this morning to clear the city roads, after an overnight snowfall that blanketed the city with more than 7 inches! (17,8 cm) The news went crazy, said there was a big snow storm. My friend's school Downtown even closed, so she had to stay home today. Her class had been cancelled because of the weather. Crazy Americans! They don't even do that in Norway. Wonder what they will do when something really big hits them?

Justin Timberlake on SNL
